Switzerland has some great golf courses! A fact that is still well hidden from the public domain. The oldest Golf Course in Switzerland, Engadine Golf Club in St. Moritz dates back to 1893. Many golfers may be familiar with the Omega European Masters (European Tour) that is held annually at Crans-sur-Sierre since 1948, some with the Swiss Seniors Open (European Seniors Tour) that has a long-standing history in Bad Ragaz. Some acclaim as international championship venues also have Gerre-Losone (Ladies European Tour 2006-2012), Geneva (Challenge Tour) and Sempach (Challenge Tour). And, some of the world’s most renowned architects have left their marks here: Pete Dye, Jack Nicklaus, Robert Trent Jones Sr. and II, Jeremy Pern, Severiano Ballesteros, Donald and Peter Harradine plus Kurt Rossknecht to name just a few.

You can of course come to Switzerland only for its golf courses. But honestly, you would miss out on the true highlights the country boasts. Combine your passion for the game with some of the best tourist attractions the world has to offer.

Although most of Switzerland’s Golf Courses are located in the central plains around the country’s main urban neighbourhoods we recommend you focus on the courses in and around the Alps. They are truely unique and often only a mere few golf shots away from the country’s top sights and attractions.

Despite not being the most obvious choice for golf holidays in Switzerland, the small alpine country offers some of the most stunning courses in Europe. Spectacular scenery and unique layouts are aplenty. Take
